With more than 60 convenient locations and over 140 top doctors and providers, New Jersey Urology is leading the way in delivering innovative, compassionate urologic care that optimizes the quality of life and setting the standards in the patient experience.At the direction of the Audit Manager, as well as the Chief Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer (CCO), the coordinator supports all aspects of the compliance program with primary focus on billing, coding and documentation audits.This position provides independent training and education to physicians and other office staff as necessary in response to audit findings. This position works with the physician practices and revenue cycle teams to identify, review, and resolve documentation and coding issues related to billing. This position also assists with general compliance activities.Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and conducts E&M and procedure coding audits and coding reviews for all NJU providers;
  • Maintains and updates the Provider Audit Schedule in accordance with the Healthicity Audit Manager and the NJU Audit policy for all NJU providers;
  • Maintains and updates the database of all internal or external audits, and coding reviews;
  • Provides audit feedback with billing and coding compliance guidelines based on applicable laws and regulations;
  • Maintains and monitors current knowledge of applicable billing and reimbursement laws and regulations; proactively recommends changes as needed or required;
  • Assists in preparing and presenting all training and education materials for staff and providers;
  • Assists in the identification of potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
  • Creates work plans in coordination with the Audit Manager and appropriate department leaders to monitor compliance and implement controls for any such areas of identified vulnerability and risk;
  • Monitors carrier medical policies;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:
    • High School and Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) designation required.
    • Associate degree in Health Information Management or equivalent combination of post-secondary education preferred.
    • Minimum of 18 months of experience with physician billing, coding and reimbursement.
    • Two to three years of experience in physician E&M coding, as well as procedural coding and medical records.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding.
    • Clinical work experience such as a Medical Assistant preferred.
    • Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel applications is necessary.
