Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/17/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring a NY RN license, BLS, ACLS, and over 5 years of experience. Responsibilities - Position is based in a large acute care teaching hospital with level 2 trauma designation - Night shift schedule from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, including weekends as necessary - Floats to all Med/Surg floors, ED hold, and Observation Unit (Legacy Annex) - Care includes management of chest tubes, CPAP/BiPap, trach care, drains, feeding tubes, epidural and PCA pumps, line management, PICC and central lines, port-a-cath access/care, and wound vacs - Responsibilities include tele interpretation and administration of blood/blood products, use of cooling and warming blankets - Cerner EMR is used - Nurses will provide comprehensive care across multiple units and patient populations in a fast-paced hospital environment - Experience with complex medical devices and advanced nursing procedures is expected - Team-oriented environment with regular collaboration across different units - Completion of facility-specific online education modules prior to start is required - Prior employment at the health system may require additional eligibility review - Holiday and weekend coverage may be required based on staffing needs Requirements - Active NY RN license required - Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required - Minimum 5 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience - Demonstrated competency in advanced nursing skills including line management, ventilator support, and tele interpretation - Two professional nursing references from current managers required - Local candidates allowed within a 60-mile radius at a reduced rate Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-662373.
