Overview The Production Manager oversees daily operations within a
high volume pork processing facility, ensuring production goals are
met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies
and regulatory standards. This role leads multiple processing
departments, manages supervisory teams, and drives continuous
improvement across workflows, quality, and employee development.
The Production Manager plays a key role in coordinating resources,
optimizing processes, and maintaining product integrity throughout
all stages of pork production. Key Responsibilities Oversee and
manage all pork production processes across assigned departments,
ensuring efficiency, product quality, and adherence to production
standards. Coordinate daily activities across slaughter,
fabrication, further processing, packaging, and related pork
operations. Ensure full compliance with safety procedures and
regulatory requirements, including USDA, OSHA, EEO, GMP, and HAACP
standards. Lead, mentor, and develop supervisory teams and hourly
employees, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and
continuous improvement. Oversee start up, set up, and break down
activities to ensure smooth production flow. Monitor product
quality, packaging accuracy, and overall product wholesomeness.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Sanitation, and
other production shifts to resolve issues and maintain operational
alignment. Address and resolve employee relations matters,
partnering with Human Resources as needed. Manage staffing levels,
line coverage, attendance, and scheduling for production teams.
Approve hours and maintain accurate timekeeping records in the
payroll system. Analyze and respond to unfavorable variances within
the plant, including yield, labor, and downtime. Coordinate rework
activities and freezer inventory as needed. Communicate schedule
changes to production, maintenance, supply, and quality teams.
Ensure production standards are met for every product and that all
documentation is completed accurately. Support company initiatives
and perform additional duties as required. Qualifications Bachelors
degree in Animal Science, Meat Science, Agriculture, Engineering,
or a related field; equivalent experience considered. Minimum of 5
years of proven supervisory experience in pork processing, meat
production, or other manufacturing operations. Strong leadership
skills with the ability to motivate, train, and develop large teams
(up to 250 hourly employees and 2 to 7 salaried leaders).
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and complete work
efficiently in a fast paced environment. Ability to adapt to
operational changes and respond effectively to shifting priorities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to
work effectively across departments. Commitment to quality, safety,
and continuous improvement. Solid analytical, reading, writing, and
math skills. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Willingness and ability to learn and perform all jobs within the
