Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Operations Team Leader, is responsible
for operating/tending machinery used for palletizing product in the
manufacturing area while ensuring finalized products are of sound
quality and ready for distribution. The role performs repetitive
production and packaging operations to mass process products such
as metal cans.
Job Duties:
Safely operate console that controls automatic palletizing
equipment to sort, transfer, and stack finished product on
pallets.
Read production schedules and stacking pattern to determine sorting
and transfer procedures, arrangement of product on pallet, and
destination of loaded pallet.
Observe product moving along conveyor to identify / detect
defective product and follows reject protocols.
Stop equipment to clear jams.
Inform proper personnel of equipment malfunction.
Visually inspect product and prepare all required documentation to
maintain the highest quality finished product for our
customers.
Monitor flow of product into processing machinery.
Operate and tend machines, such as palletizers, pallet magazine,
and conveying to maintain production flow.
Maintain performance expectations with respect to key performance
metrics and identify opportunities to improve operations.
Must be able to recognize waste (wasted labor, time, product, etc.)
within the palletizing area, adjust accordingly and aid with
developing action plans to drive continuous improvement.
Learn inventory and tracking systems, including accurately printing
and attaching pallet identification tags to finished can pallets as
well as accurately entering the pallet tag information into the APL
system for consumed pallets to maintain inventory accuracy.
Requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work
tasks.
Communicate directly with co-workers on issues, openly share ideas
with others, encourage performance in others, give feedback when
needed, and train new employees when applicable.
Effective communication to operations and supply chain teams to
maintain product flow and prevent distribution disruptions.
Support the hazardous waste and recycling programs
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience in high volume manufacturing preferred
Ability to effectively document product fills with accuracy
Understand power sources on all machines used and machine
hazards.
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without
being distracted.
Ability to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.
Able to present ideas / issues effectively, actively listen, and
work across functional boundaries with the ability to effectively
communicate with coworkers, customers, and vendors.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly
required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel,
talk, or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with
hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must
frequently lift and or move up to 75 pounds. There is no continual
lifting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include
close and distance vision as well as color recognition. Good hand
eye coordination is necessary.
Work Environment:
This position works in a manufacturing environment and around
machinery that produces noise.
The noise level in the work environment is very loud. Employees
must wear hearing protection and all other assigned personal
protective equipment. Temperature can range from extreme cold (95
degrees). The atmosphere contains fumes, dust, and odors.
