Course Information: PSY603 Inferential Statistics (Two sections)
This is a three-credit graduate course taken primarily by our MA
students with a lab component (managed in collaboration with a
Doctoral Fellow). This course will introduce students to
experimental design and statistical procedures used to draw
inferences from experimental data as well as how to successfully
communicate experimental results. Statistical theory is covered in
the context of data analysis and interpretation in the behavioral
sciences. Upon completion of this course students will be able to
(a) recognize different experimental designs, (b) articulate,
analyze, and interpret experimental data, including higher order
interactions, (c) use statistical programming software to analyze
experimental data, and (d) write statistical results using
appropriate APA-style. Meet students in person once per week for
two hours to lecture on course topics. Administer and grade
assignments and exams. Work collaboratively with lab instructor to
develop skills using statistical software packages (R).
Qualifications: Doctoral Degree in Psychology or related fields
Strong skills and knowledge about research design, implementation,
and data analysis High level writing and reasoning skills
Familiarity with CANVAS and R Ideally the instructor will have
